As ITB Berlin marks its 60th anniversary, one of the world’s leading travel trade show is setting a clear agenda for the future of tourism. Under the central theme “Leading Tourism into Balance,” the ITB Berlin Convention 2026 will bring together the global tourism community from 3 to 5 March 2026 to address the most pressing challenges facing the industry today. With around 400 international speakers, four stages and 17 thematic tracks, the convention positions itself once again as the industry’s foremost think tank.
Navigating an industry in transition
Tourism is undergoing profound change, driven by climate pressures, digital transformation and shifting traveller expectations. The ITB Berlin Convention 2026 aims to provide concrete answers to these challenges. Experts from leading organisations will present the latest research, analyse emerging trends and explore future scenarios for sustainable growth.
High-profile speakers include Nathan Blecharczyk, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Airbnb, Mitra Sorrells, Senior Vice President at Phocuswright, and Bruce Poon Tip, Founder of G Adventures. Their perspectives will be complemented by insights from Frauke Fischer, who will underline the growing importance of biodiversity for long-term tourism success, and Thor Pedersen, whose unique journey around the world without flying challenges conventional ideas of mobility and travel.
From artificial intelligence to climate adaptation
With overtourism, AI-driven data management and climate change high on the agenda, the convention will tackle complex questions that require collaboration across sectors. How can destinations manage visitor flows more responsibly? What role can artificial intelligence play in improving efficiency and sustainability? And how much adaptation is needed to make tourism resilient in the face of climate change?
The programme is designed to balance economic interests with environmental and social responsibility, encouraging innovative thinking and practical solutions that can be implemented across destinations and businesses.
Practical insights and deep-dive formats
A strong focus on applicability runs throughout the convention. The ITB Transition Lab will return with an expanded programme, offering in-depth analysis of corporate strategies and tools. Participants will explore how indices and key performance indicators can be effectively used to measure sustainability and performance in real-world settings.
New to the programme are the ITB Deep Dives, a format dedicated to intensive exploration of emerging topics. These sessions are designed to challenge established perspectives, test new ideas and deliver actionable insights that extend well beyond the event itself.
Expanded hospitality focus and new partnerships
The hotel and hospitality sector will benefit from a broader and more specialised programme in 2026. The Hospitality Track begins on ITB Tuesday at the Green Stage and continues with detailed sessions on the eTravel Stage as part of the Hospitality Tech Track. Industry experts such as Thomas Hertkorn of a&o Hostels and Renée Nicole Wagner from Orascom Hotels Management AG will highlight current developments and future innovations.
With Airbnb joining as Official Premium Partner, the hospitality programme will gain additional perspectives, while Peru, the Adventure Travel Partner, will showcase its tourism offerings and expertise.
Commitment to diversity and LGBTQ traveller safety
Diversity, inclusion and traveller safety remain integral to the convention’s agenda. The Diversity & Inclusion Track will once again address tolerance and equality in tourism. In addition, ITB Berlin is continuing its collaboration with A3M Global Monitoring and Diversity Tourism on a market survey examining risks faced by LGBTQ travellers. The study, running from December to April, gathers personal experiences and perceptions to better understand safety challenges at destinations worldwide.
Tickets, accreditation and event details
The ticket shop for ITB Berlin 2026 is now open, with early-bird discounts and reduced rates for trade visitors available until 14 January 2026. Tickets and accreditation both grant access to the ITB Berlin Convention.
Press representatives and content creators can apply for online accreditation at any time. Once approved, participants will receive a digital press badge with a personal QR code for entry.
